When we talk about truly durable backpacks, there is no greater classic than 1000 Denier Coated CORDURA® Nylon. This fabric is a legend among technical materials and is one of the foundations of the durability of our Minato Premium 6.0 and Minato Lite 2.0 backpacks.
What 1000 Denier CORDURA® Means
“1000 Denier” refers to the density and strength of the fibers from which the fabric is made. The higher the denier number, the more durable the material - and 1000D is one of the strongest textile standards used today. The fabric is made from 6.6 nylon (polyamide) with a finish that provides exceptional resistance to abrasion, tearing and ripping.
It also has a polyurethane coating (PU coating) on the inside, which protects against moisture and helps keep the contents of the backpack dry. On the outside, it is protected by a DWR water-repellent finish that makes water bead up and run off. The result is a material that stands up to everyday use, rain and demanding travel.
Key Features of 1000D CORDURA®
- High resistance to abrasion and ripping - ideal for the bottom of the backpack, the sides and exposed areas.
- Water-repellent coating - protects against rain and moisture without compromising the strength of the material.
- Resistance to UV radiation and mold - the color and structure of the fabric remain stable even after years of use.
- Tensile strength - handles heavy loads without deformation or torn seams.
- Versatility - suitable for urban and outdoor backpacks, cases and bags.
Why We Use It in Batohiro Backpacks
At Batohiro, we use 1000D CORDURA® Nylon for models that have to handle everything - from city life to demanding travel.
Minato Premium 6.0 uses 1000D CORDURA® for a robust construction that can handle a full load in its expanded 40-liter configuration. It combines precise Czech craftsmanship, Fidlock® magnetic fastening, YKK® water-resistant zippers and clean design with technical reliability. We make the Yellow Black, Silver, Forest Green and Navy Blue colors from 1000D CORDURA®. The Black Knight color goes one step further - it uses ECO CORDURA® re/cor™ 1200D made from recycled fibers.
The smaller Minato Lite 2.0 uses the same material, with a capacity of 15–20 l, delivering the same durability in a more compact format. Perfect for everyday carry, work and short trips. You can find a lighter CORDURA® 500D variant in the waist bags Kai M 2.0 and Kai S.
Benefits for Everyday Use
- The backpack keeps its shape even after years - the fabric does not sag, even after prolonged use.
- Protects your belongings - thanks to the inner coating, it repels moisture and dirt.
- Easy to maintain - simply wipe off everyday dirt with a damp cloth; use backpack and waist bag cleaner on stains. Restore the water resistance once a season with NANO impregnation.
- Premium appearance - the subtly textured surface looks professional and durable at the same time.
