The original design Hiro Wawe represents a single compositional whole connecting several of the most sacred symbols of Japanese culture, spirituality, and aesthetics.

The concept of the T-shirt is dominated by a radiant red disc – the sacred and life-giving sun: energy, the birth of the day, the power and beauty of life.

The pagoda – a Shinto temple – represents cosmic order. The individual tiers of the pagoda in Asian architecture traditionally symbolize the five elements of the universe (earth, water, fire, wind, and sky/universe).

The pagoda is a symbol of your entry into a sacred inner space and purification. The temple is a place of calm, peace, spiritual contemplation, and refuge from the chaos of everyday life, over which the sun rises.

The bridge – Taiko-bashi – represents the transition between worlds. In Shinto tradition, red bridges at temples symbolize the boundary between the material world and the divine realm.

The pine tree – Matsu – remains green all year round, even in harsh winter. Therefore, it is a symbol of longevity, indomitable life force, perseverance, and patience.

The immobile, solid mountains represent the masculine element, stability, and eternity. The flowing water and misty haze beneath them represent the feminine element, constant change, the passage of time, and the concept of impermanence. Together, they maintain the Hiro Wawe landscape in peaceful Zen balance.
